Terrible Talk

Objective

Terrible Talk is a Christchurch-based telecommunications provider, offering businesses a telecommunications service with no rental or standing fees.  As the brainchild of Alberic Whale (Albi), a young tech-savvy entrepreneur, the brand new telco was designed to take on the big companies and give Christchurch businesses a fundamentally different option at the same time. Your Story Communications was brought in to advise on the marketing strategy, project manage the creation of a brand new website, and create the copy for this.  We saw that the website needed to highlight the positive aspects of a brand name easily associated with negative connotations. 

Strategy 

Working alongside a design agency, we developed imagery and wording that complemented the Terrible Talk brand and culture – with the final design highlighting the excitement around the telco’s offer – free business internet and landline. After developing a communications plan for the launch of the company in Christchurch, we set to work implementing the different marketing strategies.  This included producing a press release, writing an article in Canterbury Today, online advertising, residential and business a A4 flyer drops,  and finally, the creation of the web copy. 

Results

The launch went ahead successfully, with the story getting picked up by media and online traffic growing quickly. View the Terrible Talk website here.
